air purification paint

From now on, you will find 12 portraits by artist Elleke Van Win on the facade of the Foodmaker flagship store on the Meir in Antwerp. The paint that Elleke used for the portraits purifies the air and is made from natural materials.

The 12 portraits on the façade of Foodmaker in Antwerp are part of the street art project “Art Against Global Warming” by Elleke Van Win, with which she wants to draw attention to the climate issue in the context of Earth Overshoot Day. That is the day of a certain year in which mankind has used up as much of the earth’s raw materials and food worldwide as what the earth can yield in one year. This year, that day already falls on July 29.

Lieven Vanlommel, CEO of Foodmaker and Starmeal: “We are incredibly happy that we have entered into this partnership with Elleke. At Foodmaker, we consider attention to the environment to be very important and we strive for progress and improvement in all possible areas. That we can create awareness in this way and actually make a difference is very valuable to me. It is the icing on the cake of our beautiful branch here on the Meir. ”

Air purifying paint
The paintings must do more than create awareness. The Airlite paint that Elleke used for the portraits is not only environmentally friendly but also air-purifying. The amount that Elleke has used has the same effect as a forest of 18m².
